All,
Do not despair yet. We were repeatedly told that bills take a lot of time to pass. Never the less we'll keep working on this bill and this also precisely why we're not pinning all of our hopes on only the Comprehensive Immigration Bill. We also have the PACE bill and the TALENT bill, which can bring a lot of relief to us.
Are there any plans by the senate or congress to to bring these two bills to the floor anytime? In other words, what is the current status of these two bills?

Why did you choose your screen name as 'Hopefull'? Are you hopeful about yourself? Or are you hopeful about others? Or may for everyone? Either way your message and tone of your post doesn't sound hopeful for anybody. Could you please consider changing your screen name to "HOPELESS"? This would help eliminate the hypocrisy due to your screen name. What do you say?
BTW, Full Time job is NOT a virtue. Kindness towards the environment you live in is a virtue. Let�s all HOPE and pray that you could gather some of the real virtues of life.

1) My screen name has nothing to do with the argument here. If we discuss my screen name we are going on a tangent which is very typical of desis (I rememeber womanly taunts in movies and woman gossip where they would pick anything but would niether make a point nor a valid argument)

2) Hopefull signifies optimism. A pessimist is an optimist who is very analytical or knows better. Your argument is similar to "And they lived happily ever after ...(after singing around green trees) ...." ignoring the ground reality, facts that no dent has been made and also turninga blind eye to the fact that there are people since 2001/2002 stuck. Its 2007 meaning five years and if the Dept is not willing to budge after all these efforts to a number more than 7000, and you still are HOPEFULL ignoring the facts means that you are an idiot. Yes you will get your GC before you die for sure provided you live upto the age of appx 70 and your consulting firm is around and you are not tired of the bickering with your employer.
Its just like a Yash Chora SRK movie ...it only happens in reel life and not real life ..
3) as far as the FT job goes we both knwo it deep within what it means...i hope you are smart enough to get the point and wont make me word it to emabrass you further..

He is considered among the future generation of leaders in america by the media. He is a front runner for vice president. He is the best political resource that could be used by IV. But he would not do anything as that would affect his image as a conservative republican. He doesnt understand the pain suffered by many who are not born here like him but are raised here (as white as he is), waiting for their GC as a dependent with the fear that if they turn 21 they will be deported seperating them from their families.
why single out one guy, he is doing what is good for him. What do you expect if the even people registered on this site are not willing to do do something to help themselves. The attidude is i have EAD/AP i am free or I am EB1/2 its just a matter of time till i get the GC. Even the politicians are using us for their own agenda and to score political points.

My labor was filed on July 2004 and I have not received an approval yet.
I got an RFE last week stating that Employeer has to again prove the RIR status of the application.
So Lawyer has started the advertisement process again.
One important issue is over looked here. Small employers will have a tough time in proving I-140 "ability to pay" for employees with older PD�s, whose labor got cleared after Aug 17 from BEC. Cuz the company has to prove its "ability to pay" the proffered wage starting from the date PD is established continuing until the adjudication of I-140.
Suppose the PD for an employee is Oct 2001 and the proffered wage is 80K per annum, then the company should prove that its assets, net income or salary payments were >=80K starting from Oct2001 continuing until the adjudication of I-140.
This is indeed an acid test for small employers.

Thanks so much man! Actually I was all set for Sept 13 but have a work appointment on Sept 18, yet I am even thinking of cancelling that to attend. I don't care how expensive it is. This is historic, just like Martin Luther King's Civil Rights movement! We can make history! It's an investment in our future!

Guys - I asked my lawyer about the predicted time frame of my case which is EB3 ROW priority date of October 2005. I asked specifically if my case would be approved in a matter of months or years. They said that my case would most likely take years!
I don't really understand how the process works - how could it be years when my priority date is only 4 months away. Does anyone have any explanation why this would be the case.
This lawyer has been great for me and I trust what they say but I am not sure about the prediction - if anyone could shed any light on this I would be so grateful.

It is important that everyone understand that each case is different. In this case was the 1 year of the BCom required for admission into the diploma program? Otherwise in my opinion (and anything can happen with any one adjudicator at USCIS) it souns like you are combining, which is allowed for EB3 when so stated on the Labor Cert.

The only disadvantage with a new I-140 would be that we cant file for 485 till there is an open visa, which means no EAD/AP for myself & my wife.
Can members with knowledge of these kind of scenarios shed some of their thoughts?

There is a petition to capture lost visa. If lost visas are recaptured, there will be some relief.
but even with this big announcement tomorrow, we still only have 140,000 visas and keep in mind USCIS has just been averaging about 100,000 per year. (so about 40,000 get wasted every year)
All all this does is to push the bottleneck further down the pipeline.

What is received date? What is delivered date? How come there are 6 days gap between those days? Even if you assume that the receiving guy took 6 days to lift his hand and receive, how come the received date is before the delivery date? So he received it even before it was delivered to him.

No, only allows people on H4 for more than 6 years to get a H1B of their own for 6 years or until their spouses EAD/GC's arrive.

The kids from the second marriage can definitely come. He can call the first wife get her the green card, then divorce her and go and marry the second wife and bring her here.
once he gets his GC (until he becomes a citizen) getting the 2nd wife over iis going to take too long, as its in FB quota, not EB. Thats one reason why many unmarried folks did not file their I-485 in July/August. If their 485 is approved before their marriage, then bringing the spouse over is real tough.

Attacking Lou Dobbs will help those who purposefully blur the distinction between legal and illegal immigrants. While Dobbs sometimes talks about H1Bs, his main focus is on illegal immigration and he's mostly sympathetic to legal immigration, in my opinion.

very well said goel.. I said the same thing to IV and I got God knows how many reds. The only time I saw a huge impact was after July fiasco but again it was not IV's alone effort, many other organizations were included.
Honestly IV is a great platform to help members with their questions and exchange knowledge about immigration topics but nothing more.. I don't expect the founders to leave their full time jobs to address immigration issues as without a job they won't have any immigration issues.
To people who say that illegals have huge support and resources that is because they have lobby money from businesses who need cheap labor, lawyers who need new clients and politicians who need (future) votes..
In our case business know that first we are not any cheap and second they can move the jobs overseas.. Lawyers already know that they have us by the b***s and politicians flip - flop depending on who they talk to (citizens or us).
I think I have joined IV in last 3 years or so...
Donated money once & have called congressmen & senators many times ...

What has been achieved by IV till date? I know we all meet elected reps, officials in washington dc ..... but I am interested in end result like not wasting visa numbers , implementing spillover & along these lines.
I have asked few friends to join IV but then if they ask me for IV accomplishments - i can't count any....

There should a seperate quota for immigrants from Jhumri Talliya
In the same lines as H1B, could we look into if its possible to add a quota for US Masters degree holders irrespective of country of birth for green Card also. This would be in addition to the existing Employment based quotas.
Does anyone know how they added 20k H1B quota for Masters degree holders? Who sponsored that bill? May be we should talk to the same people.
