I have to descent from the mass and say I was not impressed by the Keynote. What the hell is with Safari still having the brushed metal interface, as well as the finder, etc...
I thought they were finally going to get rid of that and get some consistency in their GUI. :mad:
Overall, I am much more interested in the developers. When is OS X going to be more than a different OS and get some key native applications? Apple continues to lead the show, as they should, but they should take a hint from Microsoft and promote their developers more. Like it or not, it's not Apple, but ultimately their developers that will grow the platform.
Steve really should have pressed the developers to commit on stage to release dates...if that was possible. Microsoft should have been present to provide some information in regards to the next version of Office and its time frame for release.

Seems like black is, well, the new black.
I suppose the 8GB Nano only being available in black is some kind of status thing.
Though I really like the new cases a lot as throwbacks to the Mini. I've got a 20GB 2G iPod from back in the day that's still going strong. But it's nice to know I could replace it with something as cool looking as the old Minis - especially in a year or so when Nano capacity will probably be 8-16GB (or maybe even over 20GB?!).

Honestly, most musicians don't study the Beatles as individuals - nor do they need to - because they were just solid musicians, nothing spectacular. When you had Clapton, Beck, and even Townshend, there is no need to study Lennon or Harrison. When you had Entwistle ... no need for McCartney.
Even though Clapton, Beck, Townshend, and Entwistle left some pretty big footsteps, every one of them would admit they themselves followed in some pretty big footsteps as well.
And, from a slightly different angle, Les Paul as well as the Beatles/EMI made huge strides in recording techniques that are still the foundations today for what is now commonly done in Pro Tools. Whether or not you like Les Paul or the Beatles, that's still true.
Pioneers are still the pioneers; the greats always stand on the shoulders of the greats that came before them, it's how it works. All are made up from parts of the work of those who came before. The "greatest rock and roll band in the world" never becomes that without Muddy Waters, Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry; but you don't even have to be a fan of those guys to like what the Stones built from those influences. Or what will be made from musicians who have the Stones as one of their influences.

It's an unfortunate fact that their level of musicianship and talent may have no bearing on their success or their the ability to influence modern music. The world is full of technically proficient musicians playing music nobody wants to listen to. Sad, yes, but there it is.

I doubt it since this is the World Wide DEVELOPERS Conference...I wouldnt classify an imac as a developmental machine.
But surely if a 64-bit CPU is dropped in to the iMac and MBP, then they become DEVELOPER machines, as the majority of software out there is 32-bit natively... So the new software needs DEVELOPING? Just a thought...

Yeah I have no problem with it at all, I was going to buy a new macbook regardless because I wanted the previous model anyway. Just heard there was a cooler processor upgrade coming and well, it's here! Except now I have to change my mind and buy the middle priced one instead of the starting priced one because of the much better bargain, damn it.

I agree, but how will we make people feel guilty for murdering someone? I think we can teach children morals without religion but I think there needs to be some coordinated effort to make this possible. This author is at least trying.

Also, believe or not atheists get cancer, lose their jobs, and generally have hard times. People need comfort and support and if there is no religion then there has to be some structure in place to help people through these difficulties.

Microsoft has never, does not, and will never make a product with nearly a quarter of the 'cool' factor that Apple does. Microsoft may be the empresarios' top choice, but is dated, dull, dumb. Apple is innovative, young, and sexy.

Data caps for 3G download (if it is allowed)? What else would the negotiations be about? Downloading over wifi?
Unavoidable, uncontrollable, and unexpected iOS upgrades? Seriously?
How could Apple possibly solve the issue of backing up data for users of iOS 5... the version of iOS strongly rumored to include support for Apple's revamped cloud stroage solution.
This development just strengthens the other rumors. It fits together rather nicely. Hopefully there's some validity to it. Tying it to a single computer's iTunes has been a nuisance from time to time.

At least the option for a dedicated GPU would be awesome, and since the MBP's would have faster CPUs and significantly faster GPUs I don't see how it would make that much of a difference... Light gaming is NOT "Pro" usage, no matter what Apple would try to tell us.
