Finally, some statistics that are actually presented clearly.
It's always bugged me when groups compare iPhone to "Android devices" because there's only one brand of iPhone when there's tons of various Android phones. Didn't seem fair to just chop off the rest of iOS.
Glad this study was done by a major group. Maybe this'll shut up some of the pro-Android, anti-Apple crowd.
Not only has Apple’s mobile platform share been artificially cut down by separating out the iPhone alone, the other mobile device makers have had their share artificially increased, by lumping them all together! But since those devices vary in size, version and capabilities so much, they do NOT add up to a single platform in the way iOS does. Not for developers, not for device makers, and not for users.
Exactly.

Wow!where can I buy that "BINKS" shirt?:D
Right here: http://www.districtlines.com/20899-Vampire-Raglan-T-Shirt/ZACHARYXBINKS
If you're outside the U.S. though, the shipping and duties will cost a pretty penny. That one and the other one like it cost me almost $80 to get them to Nova Scotia, Canada when all was said and done.

Clive, I am with you, but unfortunately we live in a society that worship celebrities and violence. It won't change.
Teachers should start salaries in the $100k a year and climb up from there to the amount of years in the job. But it's a dream that will never happen.:(
Okay, I think $100k is a *little* excessive... and could encourage those who aren't as passionate about children to pursue a teaching job just for the money.
I think starting at $50-60k would be more than reasonable... I mean for only working 9 months out of the year plus receiving the benefits that teachers usually do... that'll sweeten the deal a lot. Especially in my field, physics, the way things are now I could either start as a teacher for $40k if I'm very lucky, or $50k+ in the industry. I'm just out of college and as poor as a rat... what do you think I would do? I'm not Mr. Materialistic or anything, but I have school and an apartment to pay for.
I think the real monetary incentive in teaching should be the bottom right corner of the matrix... those who have higher degrees and have worked for many years. It'll encourage people to be into teaching for the long-haul. However, that might introduce problems with ever-changing research on effective teaching styles, so maybe that isn't just a great idea.
Just some thoughts.

I have a question about how to get the folder for Microsoft Office 2011 to appear on the dock and fan out to reveal the four applications for Microsoft Office like I see at the Apple Store.

Our desktops were scarily similiar. My dock is basically identical but it's on auto-hide. xp

Fivepoint's argument is akin to complaining that the slaves weren't paying their fair share of the taxes, and the plantation owners were paying far too much.
This be true, those that produce the wealth, workers, are being asked to bail out the rich, those that ****ed up and sent the world economy into a nose dive.

It's amazing just how few (3 so far that I can count) SERIOUS and thoughtful replies to this thread there have been.
If I craft a serious and thoughtful reply, I might reasonably expect you to reply by quoting your own posts from another thread and linking that same damn wealth creation videoastounded that anyone can watch it and disagreeso why bother?

And Apple having your address, phone number, e-mail address, creditcard is fine with you? And if yes, why is ok for Apple to have this information but not for the FT?

I'd disagree that designers should be making text areas 100% wide though. I've a 2560 wide screen. That'd be silly. Letting users on the other hand size it themselves and giving designers the tools to accommodate resizing is the way to go
At the same time, it's kinda silly to view most web pages at 2560 wide, even 1200+. At that point a paragraph is usually only one or two lines, forcing you to do quite a bit of tracking to read what you want. If you're comfortable viewing the text that way, why not edit it that way as well?
But I definitely agree that letting the users resize the textareas inside the page is a great usability feature. Just was trying to point out that there are already (simple) solutions to the issue.

Same here, but you can close Photos from the multitasking bar to reset it.
Yeah, but that sounds like a Microsoft solution.

If that's too big for you, try this one (http://wallpaper.skins.be/hayden-panettiere/27800/1920x1200/). Lots of sizes to choose from. :)

What remote are you using on your Finder bar for iTunes?
It's called TunesArt (http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/ipod_itunes/tunesart.html).
It's free and can automatically find lyrics of your music when you play it.

Perhaps I missed part of the new Google search feature in the new version of Safari, but isn't there an already-existing (and awesomely functioning :) ) Google searchbar in there? I'm still using Panther with Safari v1.3.2!
