Lenox Mall one in Buckhead. Here without a car, so it has to be something I can Marta to. I got there early this morning and the sign was already up that they were out of stock for the day.
If you have an idea where I could look let me know. I'd love a 64 gig black ATT ready Ipad2. Many coworkers have either the original or the newer iPad and I'm ready to hop on that train.
Try www.milo.com, that should help you locate one in your area.

As soon as Zune hits the market, Apple will counter with iPod 2.0:
Jobs doesn't exactly respond to what other people do, he does his own thing.
That's why we like him so much :)

My local Best Buy as of 11:15 this morning(The Woodlands, Texas) did not have any iPad 2's available. I failed to ask them if they were already sold out for the day or if they just didn't have them in stock. Regardless, no luck there.

I don't like the dark grey sliders.
I DO! I hope the get rid of all the jelly bean sliders in leopard and replace them with these, much less intrusive.

the key issue in my case was that my macbook couldn't go to sleep or be closed, everytime it woke up, it wouldn't last longer than 3 seconds and then shut down and all of the other known symptoms.
I ran the firmware upgrade and it works fine now, it's not hot or anything and the fans seem to be working at a normal pace.
Well, I am grateful for the fact that I don't have to turn in the mac for 5 days or more for servicing... I make a living out of this thingy...:DSome firmware engineer is going to get a very good performance review if this truly does fix the problem. There is nothing a company loves more then finding a way in software to fix a hardware problem and saving the company millions of dollars in repair costs.

Thunderbolt anyone?
AFAIK, thunderbolt does work on the devices it exists on. The problem of course is that not very many devices make use of it yet. It also goes without saying that Apple would be eager to deploy a technology it had a heavy hand in developing, much like HTML 5.
Conversely, wireless networks that are a mishmash of different standards can be tough for a single phone to deal with effectively. When the iPhone 3g came out for the first time, dropped calls were notorious because many parts of the country didn't have thorough enough 3g to maintain a constant connection, resulting in the phone dropping the call and reverting to 2g. I think Apple will want to avoid such technical problems again, especially since LTE is so sparse still and 3g has finally become a stable standard. Plus, engineering an LTE phone before the market is ready to use it would be unnecessarily expensive and would subtract from the bottom line.

I think I would want a retina display first. I'd rather wait for battery technology to improve before having an iPad with a shorter battery than my ipad 2.

I did phone in and after a mere 30 minutes on hold, spoke w/ a rather angry man (who is actually an iPod tech who got called over to handle this battery business) and he said my battery falls within the recall range, but to just re-try the website later.
I tried, and the web-app is still telling me I have an invalid battery. Argh.

The banner is current products (other than the Tiger disc) and is being waaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy over analysed.
Apple is trying to give us a clue. It could read a message for those that want to crack the code. Perhaps the third letter of every product or something. Hidden messages would be a cool idea.

I like your style Nipsy and your points are well taken. I think that a lot of people are just venting.
Personally, I would find it extremely hard to believe that Apple wants to live and die by a Photoshop metric. On the other hand, Intel and AMD don't seem to be making bank on every speed increase either, which tells me that PC's are price constrained commodities for the most part.
Apple, on the other hand, is quite aware of the dollars that can be generated with a quick and substantial speed bump in January, especially as most of the bleeding edge types that have stuck their noses up at the 7455 machines.
I have a dual 500 with a hardware raid (ata66), and I can get a good speed bump by jumping to a 133 raid and 7200 RPM drives, should I need to stretch this a bit more. Then, of course, there are dual 800 and 1G upgrades, though I would need to see quite a price decrease to be interested in these.
Is it worth it to incrementally bump the machine? Probably not.
I bought my first, a 128, in Feb 84. There wasn't, for all practical purposes, any software other than MacWrite and MacPaint. Then we went through both the Sculley and Amelio eras.
Apple has had its up's and down's. Apple's definitely on an up swing now with the release of Jaguar.
I advocate patience regarding hardware. Apple knows quite well that we want to splend our money. 3 more months, I would think.

Did anyone love this quote?
Jobs was equally unconcerned about the prospect of the iPod losing its cool factor as it becomes increasingly ubiquitous.
"That's like saying you don't want to kiss your lover's lips because everyone has lips. It doesn't make any sense," said Jobs.

makes sense that they upgrade the 15 and 17 and not the 13, the 13 inch is pretty good as it is, they just need to upgrade the hard drives to 250 and 320gb and the 15 and 17 inch should reach 1TB

I wouldn't go near these machines if I was in the market for a portable...
Well my MB was bought the day they were announced - my local Apple store didn't have them on display yet :) and mine hasn't had the shutdown issue.
I thought this pic Engadget posted is pretty funny:

Not sure yet,
But it looks like we may need to convert videos before we can place them onto our ipod from iTunes.
I just encoded a video using Quicktime Version 7.1.5 (available now via software update). Even after doing that, it appears that I have the option to encode it for iPod  .
::EDIT::
This feature is to encode videos dragged into iTunes, for your ipod.
Meaning. If you are able to drag a movie into iTunes and play it, you can now encode it to play on your Video iPod within iTunes!!

I'm seriously amazed that ANYONE is defending Apple here.

Have you not understood a single post discussing the merits of Apple approving apps? The simple fact is that it is a good idea. Apple's execution is somewhat flawed and could certainly be improved.

I'm just glad they are not trying to run this on the 3G. I can barely keep the phone running as it is. I wish they would come out with a throwback OS for the older phones. Something to stop the constant freezing.
Just a few more months, then maybe an Iphone 5 takes away my pain. :D
Ditto. My poor 3G is one step away from being an ipod only... I hate that Apple has essentially bricked that phone. Mine is in great shape, but barely works after the 4.0 update. Retro would be ideal.
You guys do realize that your 3G is realistically 4 years old, right? It used the same processor, screen, graphics and RAM as the very first iPhone. They just added the 3G/aGPS chip to make it a 3G device. Four years is an eternity in cell phones.
